Measurement
Choose your practice ↓Measurement covers length, mass, capacity, money and time, the metric units and the conversions between them, and the first work on perimeter, area and volume. It is the most practical area of the primary curriculum and the one where reading a scale correctly matters as much as the calculation. At GCSE it becomes standard and compound units, unit conversion, and the area and volume formulae. Phase 2 will cover Years 1 to 6 in full.

Frequently asked questions
Metric or imperial?
Metric throughout — metres, centimetres, kilograms, grams, litres and millilitres. Rough equivalents to miles and pints are mentioned, but the calculations are metric.
What is the difference between perimeter and area?
Perimeter is the distance around the edge, measured in centimetres or metres; area is the space inside, measured in square units.
