- 1.Three vertices of a rectangle are (−4, −1), (2, −1) and (2, 3). The sides of the rectangle are parallel to the axes. Write down the coordinates of the fourth vertex.
- 2.A rectangle has area 24x + 18. Ffion factorises the area as 6(4x + 3). Work out the value of the area when x = 2, and decide whether 6 and (4x + 3) are correctly identified as factors of 24x + 18.
- 3.Solve 3(2x − 1) = 27
- 4.The simultaneous equations y = 3 and 4x − y = 9 are given. Work out the value of x.
- 5.Which of these equations gives a graph shaped like a U, symmetrical about a vertical line?
- 6.Point P has coordinates (5, 2). Point P is rotated 180° about the origin to point Q. Write down the coordinates of Q.
- 7.A rectangular field has length (3a + 2) metres and width (a − 1) metres. Write a simplified expression for the perimeter of the field.
- 8.Which of these points lies in the first quadrant?
- 9.Solve x² − 100 = 0.
- 10.A market stall's cost of hiring n tables is modelled by two formulas: Formula A: C = 3(2n + 5); Formula B: C = 6n + 15, where C is in pounds. A stallholder says the two formulas always give the same cost. Work out the cost given by each formula when n = 4, and use your results to decide whether the stallholder is correct.
- 11.The height, h metres, of a ball t seconds after a stopwatch is started follows h = (t − 1)(5 − t) for 1 ≤ t ≤ 5, where h = 0 means the ball is at ground level. Work out the two times at which the ball is at ground level.
- 12.The nth term of a sequence is 4n − 3. Work out the 7th term of the sequence.
- 13.Solve 4(x − 3) = 2x + 6.
- 14.Factorise fully 56x − 24
- 15.The solution set of an inequality is x ≥ 7. Write down the value that does NOT satisfy this inequality.
