- 3.Write down the expression that means the same as m × m × m × n.
- 4.Factorise x² − 64.
- 5.A geometric sequence starts at 3, and each term after that is found by multiplying the term before it by 2. Write down the first four terms.
- 6.A point lies on the y-axis. What can be said about the x-coordinate of that point?
- 7.The graph of y = mx + 6 passes through the point (−2, 0). Work out the value of m.
- 8.A point has coordinates (−6, 9). Work out the sum of the x-coordinate and the y-coordinate.
- 9.Look at the statement 2x + 5 = 17. Considering whether it is an expression, an equation, a formula, or an identity, which classification is correct?
- 10.Oliver has m stickers and gives 5 of them away. The number he has left is L = m − 5. Work out L when m = 8.

- 14.A car's speed increases steadily while it accelerates. Its speed v m/s after t seconds is given by v = u + at, where u is the starting speed in m/s and a is the acceleration in m/s². A car starts at u = 4 m/s and accelerates at a = 2 m/s² until it reaches v = 20 m/s. Work out t, the time taken in seconds.
