- 1.The point A lies on the x-axis. Which statement about A must be true?
- 2.A printer starts a job with 480 sheets of paper loaded and prints at a steady rate. The number of sheets left, S, after t minutes is given by S = 480 − 24t. Work out how many minutes it takes for the paper to run out completely.
- 3.Two numbers have a sum of 45. The larger number is 9 more than the smaller number. Form an equation using n for the smaller number, and solve it to find the larger number.
- 4.The formula for the circumference of a circle is C = 2πr, where r is the radius. Make r the subject of the formula.
- 5.The formula connecting speed, distance and time is v = s ÷ t. Work out v, in km/h, when s = 180 and t = 4.
- 6.A number machine adds 5 to its input. Work out the output when the input is 0.

- 10.A sequence starts at 2. Each term after that is found using the rule "double the previous term, then add 1". Work out the 4th term of the sequence.
- 11.On a map, where each grid unit represents 1 km, Ravi's house is at (−3, 4) and the library is at (6, 4). Work out the distance between Ravi's house and the library.
- 12.Write down the expression that means the same as p + p + p + q.
- 13.A point has coordinates (x, y). In which two quadrants is the product x × y positive?
- 14.Solve the inequality x + 5 < 12.
- 15.A caterer uses the formula C = 6p + 20 to work out the total cost, £C, of a buffet for p people, where £20 covers fixed costs. A customer is charged £92. Work out how many people, p, the buffet was for.
