- 1.Solve the inequality 9 − 2x ≥ 1.
- 2.Work out the equation of the straight line through the points (−3, 4) and (1, −8).

- 5.A box contains 6 chocolates. Write down an expression for the total number of chocolates in c boxes.

- 7.A point lies on the y-axis. What can be said about the x-coordinate of that point?
- 8.A hall is set out in rows of chairs for an assembly. Row 1 has 50 chairs, row 2 has 45 chairs, row 3 has 40 chairs, and row 4 has 35 chairs, with each row after the first having 5 fewer chairs than the one before. Work out an expression, in terms of n, for the number of chairs in row n.
- 9.Oliver has m stickers and gives 5 of them away. The number he has left is L = m − 5. Work out L when m = 8.
- 10.A rule turns each input x into an output y. The inputs are x = −1, 0, 1, 2 and the matching outputs are y = 5, 3, 1, −1. Work out the rule.
- 11.A taxi fare, in pounds, for a journey of m miles is given by the formula F = 3 + 2.5m. A journey costs £15.50. Work out the distance travelled, m, by first rearranging the formula to make m the subject, then substituting F = 15.50.
- 12.A rule turns each input x into an output y. An input of 1 gives an output of 1, an input of 2 gives an output of 4 and an input of 3 gives an output of 9. Work out the rule.
- 13.Which of these equations is equivalent to 5x − 2 = 3x + 8?
- 14.Solve 5x + 2 = 17.
- 15.The solution to an inequality is n ≤ 5. Write down the largest integer value of n that satisfies this inequality.
