- 1.The formula for the circumference of a circle is C = 2πr, where r is the radius. Make r the subject of the formula.
- 2.Expand and simplify 4(2x − 1) − 3(x + 2) − 5x
- 3.A car's speed increases steadily while it accelerates. Its speed v m/s after t seconds is given by v = u + at, where u is the starting speed in m/s and a is the acceleration in m/s². A car starts at u = 4 m/s and accelerates at a = 2 m/s² until it reaches v = 20 m/s. Work out t, the time taken in seconds.
- 4.The first five terms of a sequence are 6, 10, 14, 18, 22. Work out an expression, in terms of n, for the nth term.
- 5.Make p the subject of the formula n = p/3.
- 6.Which of these equations gives a straight-line graph when plotted?
- 7.Write down the gradient of the line with equation y = 6 + 4x.
- 8.Simplify p + p + p.
- 9.Explain why the equation 4x + 3 = 4x + 10 has no solution for x.
- 10.A cyclist's journey is shown on a distance–time graph. The graph is a straight line from (0 minutes, 0 km) to (40 minutes, 12 km). Work out her speed in kilometres per hour.
- 11.A box holds n pencils. A shop has 6 full boxes and 4 loose pencils. All of these pencils are shared equally between 2 classes. Write down the expression for the number of pencils each class receives.
