- 1.A rectangle has length (2x + 5) cm and width (x − 2) cm. Work out an expression, in terms of x, for the perimeter of the rectangle. Give your answer in its simplest form.
- 2.Explain why the equation 4x + 3 = 4x + 10 has no solution for x.

- 4.A printer starts a job with 480 sheets of paper loaded and prints at a steady rate. The number of sheets left, S, after t minutes is given by S = 480 − 24t. Work out how many minutes it takes for the paper to run out completely.
- 5.The diagram shows the graph of a quadratic function. Write down the values of x where the graph crosses the x-axis.

- 13.Two numbers have a sum of 50. The larger number is twice the smaller number. Work out the smaller number.
- 14.Write down the coordinates of the point that is 4 units to the left of the origin and 7 units up.
- 15.A rectangular photo has length (x + 3) cm and width x cm. Its area is 40 cm². Work out the value of x.
