- 1.A recipe gives the cooking time, in minutes, for a chicken as T = 40m + 20, where m is the mass in kg. A chicken has a mass of 1.8 kg. Work out the cooking time in hours and minutes.
- 2.A straight line has gradient −2 and passes through the point (3, 1). Work out the equation of the line.
- 3.The point P has coordinates (0, 12). Write down the axis that P lies on and the y-coordinate of P.
- 4.Make m the subject of the formula w = m − 8.

- 9.A ball is dropped and bounces. The height of each bounce after the first is 8 cm less than the bounce before it. The first bounce reaches 60 cm. Work out the height of the 5th bounce.
- 10.A number, n, is doubled and then 7 is subtracted. The result is 15. Form an equation and solve it to find n.
- 11.The formula for converting a distance in miles, m, to kilometres, k, is k = 8m ÷ 5. Work out k when m = 10.
