- 1.The expression 6n + 15 is written as 3(2n + 5). Which statement is correct?
- 2.A sequence has the position-to-term rule: the term is the position number multiplied by itself. Its first five terms are 1, 4, 9, 16, 25. Work out the 8th term.
- 3.A vertical line passes through the point (4, 7). Write down the equation of this line.
- 4.A formula is F = 4s. A pupil says that when s = 5 the value of F is 9, because they added 4 and 5 instead of multiplying. Work out the correct value of F when s = 5.
- 5.p = 4. Work out the value of 2p³.
- 6.y = 5 − 2x. Work out the value of x when y = 11.
- 7.The graph of y = x² − 2x − 8 takes these values: when x = −2, y = 0; when x = −1, y = −5; when x = 0, y = −8; when x = 3, y = −5; when x = 4, y = 0. Use these values to write down the two solutions of x² − 2x − 8 = 0.y = x² − 2x − 8
- 8.a = 3 and b = 5. Work out the value of a²b.
- 9.Factorise fully 56x − 24
- 10.A straight line has equation y = 4x + 3. A second line is parallel to the first line and passes through the point (0, −5). Work out the equation of the second line.y = 4x + 3
- 11.Simplify 5a/6 − a/3
- 12.Make a the subject of the formula b = 20 − a.
