- 2.The first five terms of a quadratic sequence are 2, 5, 10, 17, 26. Work out the next term in the sequence.
- 3.The diagram shows the graph of a quadratic function. Write down the values of x where the graph crosses the x-axis.
- 4.Which expression is equivalent to 6x − (2x − 5)?
- 5.A hot air balloon is at a height of 20 m and rises at a steady rate. After 4 minutes it is at a height of 52 m. Work out the rate at which the balloon rises, in metres per minute.
- 6.The nth term of a sequence is 2n − 1. Work out the 6th term of the sequence.
- 7.y = 5 − 2x. Work out the value of x when y = 11.
- 8.The graph of y = x² + 2x − 15 crosses the x-axis at two points. By factorising, work out the x-coordinates of these two points.y = x² + 2x − 15
- 9.Solve 6x + 4 = 28
- 10.Expand 2(x − 13)
- 11.In a sequence, each term is half the term before it. The sequence begins 100, 50, 25. Write down the next term.
- 12.A taxi fare, in pounds, for a journey of m miles is given by the formula F = 3 + 2.5m. A journey costs £15.50. Work out the distance travelled, m, by first rearranging the formula to make m the subject, then substituting F = 15.50.
