- 1.A straight line is drawn from the centre of a circle to a point on the circle. Write down the name of this line.
- 2.A circle is drawn on a page. Write down how many radii can be drawn in the circle.
- 3.A line segment joins two points on the circumference of a circle, without necessarily passing through the centre. Write down the general term for this line segment.
- 4.A trundle wheel has a diameter of 0.5 m. It is rolled along the ground and makes 20 complete turns. Using π = 3.14, work out the total distance rolled, in metres.
- 5.In one circle, chord PQ is 6 cm long, chord RS is 10 cm long, chord TU is 14 cm long and chord VW is 15 cm long. Write down which of these chords lies closest to the centre of the circle.
- 6.A circle has diameter 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the circumference of the circle.
- 7.Write down the term for the distance all the way around the edge of a circle.
- 8.A circle has circumference 31.4 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the radius of the circle.
- 9.Every point on a circle is exactly the same distance from one particular point. Write down the name of that point.
- 10.A tangent to a circle with centre O touches the circle at point P, where OP = 5 cm. Point Q lies on the tangent so that PQ = 12 cm. Using the fact that a tangent is perpendicular to the radius at the point of contact, work out the length OQ.
- 11.A sector of a circle has an angle of 90° at the centre. Write down what fraction of the whole circle this sector represents.
- 12.A circle has centre O. Radii OA and OB are drawn, together with the arc AB, enclosing a sector. The straight chord AB is also drawn. Write down the name of the region enclosed between the chord AB and the arc AB.
- 13.A circle has centre O. PQ, RS and TU are three chords of the circle, and only one of them passes through O. Write down what this tells you about that chord.
- 14.A tangent to a circle touches the circle at exactly one point, P. Work out the size of the angle between the tangent and the radius drawn to P.
- 15.A tangent touches a circle with centre O at the point P. Q is a point on the tangent. Write down the circle fact that tells you the size of angle OPQ.
