- 1.A tangent to a circle with centre O touches the circle at point P, where OP = 5 cm. Point Q lies on the tangent so that PQ = 12 cm. Using the fact that a tangent is perpendicular to the radius at the point of contact, work out the length OQ.
- 2.A circular table mat has diameter 20 cm. Yasmin has a 70 cm length of ribbon and sews it around the edge of the mat with no overlap. Using π = 3.14, work out how much ribbon is left over after going around the mat once.
- 3.A circle has centre O. PQ, RS and TU are three chords of the circle, and only one of them passes through O. Write down what this tells you about that chord.
- 4.A circle has a radius of 3 cm. Work out the diameter of the circle.
- 5.A straight line is drawn from the centre of a circle to a point on the circle. Write down the name of this line.
- 6.A sector of a circle is bounded by two straight edges and one curved edge. Write down the mathematical term for each of the two straight edges.
- 7.Two points on a circle divide its circumference into two arcs of different lengths. Write down the name given to the shorter of the two arcs.

- 9.The curved part of a circle's circumference, between two points on the circle, has its own name. Write down this name.
- 10.A tangent to a circle touches the circle at exactly one point, P. Work out the size of the angle between the tangent and the radius drawn to P.
- 11.A tangent touches a circle with centre O at the point P. Q is a point on the tangent. Write down the circle fact that tells you the size of angle OPQ.
- 12.A circle has a diameter of 4 cm. Work out the radius of the circle.
- 13.A circle is drawn on a page. Write down how many radii can be drawn in the circle.
- 14.A chord divides a circle into two segments of different sizes. Write down the name given to the smaller of the two segments.
- 15.A cyclist rides around a perfectly circular track with centre O. At every moment of the ride, the distance from O to the cyclist is exactly the same. Which term names this fixed distance?
