- 1.A trundle wheel has a diameter of 0.5 m. It is rolled along the ground and makes 20 complete turns. Using π = 3.14, work out the total distance rolled, in metres.
- 2.A circle is drawn on a page. Write down how many radii can be drawn in the circle.
- 3.Write down the term for the distance all the way around the edge of a circle.
- 4.Two points on a circle divide its circumference into two arcs of different lengths. Write down the name given to the shorter of the two arcs.
- 5.A diameter divides a circle into two equal halves. Write down the special name given to each of these two halves.
- 6.A circle has a diameter of 4 cm. Work out the radius of the circle.
- 7.A circle has centre O. PQ, RS and TU are three chords of the circle, and only one of them passes through O. Write down what this tells you about that chord.
- 8.A tangent to a circle with centre O touches the circle at point P, where OP = 5 cm. Point Q lies on the tangent so that PQ = 12 cm. Using the fact that a tangent is perpendicular to the radius at the point of contact, work out the length OQ.
- 9.A chord is drawn across a circle, dividing the circle into two regions. Write down the name of one of these two regions.
- 10.A circle has diameter 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the circumference of the circle.
- 11.A straight line touches the edge of a circle at exactly one point and does not cross into the circle at all. Write down the term for this line.
- 12.A circular table mat has diameter 20 cm. Yasmin has a 70 cm length of ribbon and sews it around the edge of the mat with no overlap. Using π = 3.14, work out how much ribbon is left over after going around the mat once.
- 13.A tangent touches a circle with centre O at the point P. Q is a point on the tangent. Write down the circle fact that tells you the size of angle OPQ.
- 14.A chord divides a circle into two segments of different sizes. Write down the name given to the smaller of the two segments.
- 15.A sector of a circle is bounded by two straight edges and one curved edge. Write down the mathematical term for each of the two straight edges.
