- 1.A parallelogram has an area of 136 cm² and a base of 17 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 2.A line segment is measured with a ruler and found to be 6.5 cm long. What is this length in millimetres?
- 3.A scale drawing of a park uses a scale of 1 : 2000. A path is drawn 8.5 cm long on the drawing. A cyclist rides the length of the path and then rides straight back again along the same path. How far does the cyclist travel in total, in metres?
- 4.A shop sells rice in packs of 250 g. Aisha buys 4 packs. Work out the total mass of rice she buys, in kilograms.
- 5.Two straight paths cross at a junction in a park. One of the angles between them, measured with a protractor, is 76°. What is the size of the angle immediately next to it on a straight line?
- 6.A solid ball has a radius of 7 cm. Work out the surface area of the ball. Use π = 3.14.
- 7.A plan of a school hall uses a scale of 1 : 250. A wall is drawn 3.4 cm long on the plan. Sam wants to know the wall's real length in metres. What is it?
- 8.A circular decoration has a radius of 10 cm. A ribbon costs £0.50 per centimetre and is fixed along the curved edge (the arc) of a sector-shaped section with an angle of 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the cost of the ribbon for this section.

- 10.A map has a scale of 1 : 20 000. The distance between two villages is 3.4 km in real life. How long is this distance on the map, in centimetres?
- 11.A round cake has a radius of 10 cm. Icing costs £0.02 per square centimetre. One slice of the cake is a sector with an angle of 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the cost of icing the top of that slice, to the nearest penny.
- 12.Two similar ponds have perimeters in the ratio 4 : 11. The perimeter of the larger pond is 88 m. Work out the perimeter of the smaller pond.
- 13.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 10 cm and one of its other angles is 45°. Work out the length of one of the two shorter sides. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 14.A parallelogram has a base of 9 cm and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out its area.
- 15.An angle is measured with a protractor as 47°. What type of angle is this?
