- 1.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, AB = DE, angle ABC = angle DEF and BC = EF. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 2.A circular coaster has a radius of 4 cm. Work out the circumference of the coaster. Give your answer in terms of π.
- 3.A parallelogram has an area of 84 cm² and a base of 12 cm. Work out the perpendicular height of the parallelogram.
- 4.An angle is measured with a protractor as 47°. What type of angle is this?
- 5.A shop sells rice in packs of 250 g. Aisha buys 4 packs. Work out the total mass of rice she buys, in kilograms.
- 6.A sector of a circle has radius 4 cm and angle 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.
- 7.Lines PQ and RS are parallel. A straight line crosses PQ at point X and crosses RS at point Y. Angle PXY = 63°. Angle PXY and angle XYS are co-interior (allied) angles, which add up to 180°. Work out the size of angle XYS.
- 8.A quadrilateral has angles of 100°, 85° and 95° at three of its vertices. Work out the fourth angle.
- 9.A sector of a circle has radius 9 cm and angle 40°. Work out the area of the sector, in terms of π.
- 10.A vertical flagpole casts a shadow 6 m long at the same time as a 1.2 m vertical post casts a shadow 1.8 m long. The flagpole and the post are both vertical, and the triangles formed by each object, its shadow, and the sun's ray are similar. Work out the height of the flagpole.
- 11.A trapezium has parallel sides of 5.6 cm and 8.4 cm, and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out the area of the trapezium.
- 12.In triangle ABC, angle ABC = 90° and angle BAC = 30°. The hypotenuse AC = 12 cm. Work out the exact length of AB.
- 13.Two identical ladders lean against the same vertical wall from opposite sides, each making an angle of 58.2° with the ground. The two ladders and the ground form a triangle. Work out the size of the angle between the two ladders at the top, where they meet.
- 14.A sector of a circle has radius 10 cm and angle 150°. Using π = 3.14, work out the perimeter of the sector, to 1 decimal place.
- 15.A surveyor is marking out field ABCD for a new crop. The plan states that side AB is parallel to side DC, but AB and DC are not equal in length, and sides BC and AD are not parallel to each other. Which term correctly describes the shape of field ABCD?
