- 1.Two similar signs have lengths in the ratio 9 : 4. The larger sign has a side of length 14.4 cm. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the smaller sign.
- 2.A sector of a circle has radius 7 cm and angle 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the arc length of the sector, to 1 decimal place.
- 3.Triangle JKL and triangle MNP are similar, with JK ÷ MN = JL ÷ MP = 2. A student says triangle JKL must be congruent to triangle MNP. Write down why the student is wrong.
- 4.A sector of a circle has radius 6 cm and an arc length of 15.7 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the angle of the sector.
- 5.A drone starts at the point (3.5, −2) on a grid measured in metres. It flies by the vector to check a first sensor. The drone then needs to fly in a straight line to reach the point (−1.7, 9) to check a second sensor. Work out the column vector of this second flight.
- 6.A textbook contains the instruction 'Draw AB' and, on the next line, the statement 'AB = 5 cm'. Which statement about the notation AB is correct?
- 7.A trapezium has parallel sides of 5.6 cm and 8.4 cm, and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out the area of the trapezium.
- 8.A circular pizza base has a radius of 12 cm. Work out the area of the pizza base. Use π = 3.14.
- 9.A sector of a circle has radius 6 cm and angle 60°. Work out the arc length of the sector, in terms of π.
- 10.Write down which quadrant contains the point (−3, 5) when plotted on a coordinate grid.
- 11.A sector of a circle has radius 9 cm and angle 40°. Work out the area of the sector, in terms of π.
- 12.A line segment joins A(1, 1) and B(4, 7). Write down the sign of the gradient of this line.
- 13.A shop sells a scale model of a van. The model and the real van are similar shapes, with lengths in the ratio 1 : 24. The model is 18.5 cm long. Work out the length of the real van, giving your answer in metres.
- 14.A circular coaster has a radius of 4 cm. Work out the circumference of the coaster. Give your answer in terms of π.
