- 1.A rectangular tile measures 4.5 cm by 6 cm. Work out the area of the tile.
- 2.A flagpole is 12 m tall. Freya stands 9 m from the base of the flagpole on level ground. Work out the angle of elevation of the top of the flagpole from where Freya stands. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 3.A cuboid-shaped shipping crate has a length of 12 m, a width of 5 m, and a volume of 360 m³. Work out the height of the crate, in metres.
- 4.A flower bed in the shape of a parallelogram has a base of 3.5 m and a perpendicular height of 2 m. Compost costs £4.80 per m². Work out the total cost of covering the flower bed with compost.
- 5.A circular pizza base has a radius of 12 cm. Work out the area of the pizza base. Use π = 3.14.
- 6.A line segment is measured with a ruler and found to be 6.5 cm long. What is this length in millimetres?
- 7.A circular tabletop has a radius of 15 cm. Work out the area of the tabletop. Use π = 3.14. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 8.A garden water trough is a prism whose cross-section is a right-angled triangle with base 40 cm and height 30 cm. The trough is 120 cm long. Work out the volume of water needed to fill the trough completely.
- 9.Lines PQ and RS are parallel. A straight line crosses PQ at point X and crosses RS at point Y. Angle PXY = 63°. Angle PXY and angle XYS are co-interior (allied) angles, which add up to 180°. Work out the size of angle XYS.
- 10.A television cable runs in a straight line from the edge of a flat roof 20 m above the ground to a bracket on a wall 5 m above the ground. The horizontal distance between the roof edge and the bracket is 15 m. Work out the length of the cable. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 11.A composite solid is made from a cylinder of radius 3 cm and height 10 cm, with a cone of the same radius and vertical height 4 cm fixed on top, apex upward. Work out the total volume of the solid. Use π = 3.14 and give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 12.A parallelogram has a base of 9 cm and a perpendicular height of 4 cm. Work out its area.
- 13.A vertical flagpole casts a shadow 6 m long at the same time as a 1.2 m vertical post casts a shadow 1.8 m long. The flagpole and the post are both vertical, and the triangles formed by each object, its shadow, and the sun's ray are similar. Work out the height of the flagpole.
- 14.A cylinder has a radius of 3 cm and a height of 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the volume of the cylinder.
