- 1.a is the column vector with top number 3 and bottom number −2. Work out 4a, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 2.Two similar shapes have lengths in the ratio 1 : 3. A side of the smaller shape is 4 cm long. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the larger shape.
- 3.In a construction, a point P is marked at the foot of the perpendicular drawn from point X to a straight line. Which statement correctly compares the distance XP with the distance from X to any other point on the line?
- 4.A roof has two triangular sections, P and Q. Section P has a sloping edge of 3.6 m and a base edge of 2.4 m, with an angle of 70° between them. Section Q has a sloping edge of 3.6 m and a base edge of 2.4 m, with an angle of 70° between them, arranged the same way round. A roofer wants to cut identical triangular felt panels for both sections without measuring Section Q separately. Which condition confirms that the two sections are congruent?
- 5.A tent is shaped like a triangular prism: two triangular end faces and three rectangular faces. One of the rectangular faces lies flat on the ground as the groundsheet. How many of the tent's faces are above the ground, not touching the ground?
- 6.In triangle PQR and triangle STU, PQ = ST, QR = TU and PR = SU. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 7.A robotic arm's tip starts at the point (12.5, −4.25) on a grid measured in centimetres. It moves by the vector to pick up a component, then by the vector to place it. Work out the coordinates of the tip after both moves.
- 8.Triangle JKL has a right angle at K, hypotenuse JL = 13 cm, and side JK = 5 cm. Triangle MNO has a right angle at N, hypotenuse MO = 13 cm, and side MN = 5 cm. Using only the facts given, and without working out any further lengths, write down the congruence condition that proves triangle JKL is congruent to triangle MNO.
- 9.Write down the name given to a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides.
- 10.A rhombus has all four sides equal in length. Which statement about a rhombus is correct?
- 11.A drone starts at the point (2, −3) on a coordinate grid. It flies by the vector and then by the vector . Write down the column vector that would take the drone straight back to its starting point.
- 12.A builder lays a low wall made from identical bricks. The diagram shows the plan of the wall's footprint on a grid, where each square is one brick. The wall is built up to a height of 4 bricks everywhere. Work out the total number of bricks used.
- 13.A rectangular notice board measures 150 cm by 80 cm. Work out its area in m².
- 14.Two identical ladders lean against the same vertical wall from opposite sides, each making an angle of 58.2° with the ground. The two ladders and the ground form a triangle. Work out the size of the angle between the two ladders at the top, where they meet.
- 15.A locus consists of all the points that are the same perpendicular distance from two parallel lines 6 cm apart. Describe this locus.
