- 1.A cylinder has a radius of 5 cm. Its volume is 471 cm³. Using π = 3.14, work out the height of the cylinder.
- 2.A parallelogram has an area of 54 cm² and a base of 9 cm. Work out its perpendicular height.
- 3.Triangle ABC has AB = 9 cm, BC = 6 cm and angle A = 35°. Triangle DEF has DE = 9 cm, EF = 6 cm and angle D = 35°. Which of the following correctly identifies the condition shown here?
- 4.Work out the gradient of the line segment joining A(2, 3) and B(6, 11).
- 5.A shop stacks identical storage crates in a display. The diagram shows the plan of the floor positions used, with one corner position marked. Every floor position is filled with crates stacked 3 high, except the marked corner position, which is left completely empty. Work out how many crates are used in total.
- 6.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 29 cm and one shorter side of 20 cm. Work out the length of the other shorter side.
- 7.The point (5, −2) is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image point.
- 8.A recipe uses 1.25 kg of flour. Work out how many grams of flour this is.
- 9.A rectangular notice board measures 150 cm by 80 cm. Work out its area in m².
- 10.u is the column vector with top number 7 and bottom number 3. v is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 5. Work out u − v, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 11.A fan-shaped rug is in the shape of a sector of a circle with radius 4 m and angle 180°. It costs £4 per square metre to make. Using π = 3.14, work out the total cost of the rug.
- 12.A solid has 6 faces and 8 vertices. Using the formula F + V − E = 2, work out how many edges it has.
- 13.Triangle PQR has vertices P(0, 0), Q(6, 0) and R(0, 8). Work out the perimeter of the triangle.
- 14.A triangular bunting flag has two equal sides. The angle between those two equal sides is 80°, and the other two angles of the flag are equal to each other. Work out the size of each of the two equal angles.
- 15.A square tile has sides of length 4.5 cm. Work out the perimeter of the tile.
