- 1.In triangle ABC, point D lies on side AB and point E lies on side AC, so that DE is parallel to BC. AD = 3 cm, DB = 6 cm and DE = 4 cm. Work out the length of BC.
- 2.A straight fence is 5 m long. Describe the shape of the region made up of every point on the ground within 2 m of any part of the fence.
- 3.The diagram shows the plan, front elevation and side elevation of a solid. Which solid could this be?
- 4.The diagram shows the plan view and the front elevation of a cuboid-shaped box, each drawn as a rectangle. Work out the area of the box's side elevation, in square centimetres.
- 5.The diagram shows a solid built from identical cubes. How many squares are in its plan view, the view looking straight down from above?
- 6.Two straight lines cross at a point. To find the points that are the same distance from both lines, which construction should be used?
- 7.Two triangles are congruent to each other. What does this tell you about their angles and sides?
- 8.A perpendicular bisector is drawn through the midpoint of a line segment AB. Which set of points does this construction show?
- 9.A rectangular tile measures 4.5 cm by 6 cm. Work out the area of the tile.
- 10.A quadrilateral has vertices A(1, 1), B(5, 1), C(6, 4) and D(2, 4). By comparing the y-coordinates of A, B and of D, C, write down whether the sides AB and DC are parallel, and give a reason for your answer.
- 11.Triangle ABC is isosceles, with AB = AC. Angle B = 70°. Which reason correctly explains why angle C = 70°?
- 12.The cross-section of a tent is an isosceles triangle. The angle at the top, between the two equal sloping sides, is 62°. The other two angles are equal to each other. Work out the size of each of those two angles.
- 13.A is the point (1, 3) and B is the point (7, 3). Work out the coordinates of the midpoint of AB.
- 14.Two similar ponds have perimeters in the ratio 4 : 11. The perimeter of the larger pond is 88 m. Work out the perimeter of the smaller pond.
- 15.Write down the column vector, from the options given, that would move a point to the right and downwards.
