- 1.A rectangle has vertices A(1, 1), B(4, 1), C(4, 5) and D(1, 5). Work out the perimeter of the rectangle.
- 2.A shopkeeper builds a display from two cuboid boxes, shown in the diagram. She wants to cover the front of the display with coloured paper. Work out the total area of the front elevation, in square centimetres.
- 3.A parallelogram has a base of 9 cm and a perpendicular height of 6 cm. Work out the area of the parallelogram.
- 4.Work out the exact value of cos 0° − sin 30°.
- 5.m is the column vector with top number 3 and bottom number −4. Which of these column vectors is a scalar multiple of m?
- 6.A drone starts at the point (3.5, −2) on a grid measured in metres. It flies by the vector to check a first sensor. The drone then needs to fly in a straight line to reach the point (−1.7, 9) to check a second sensor. Work out the column vector of this second flight.
- 7.Triangle ABC has a right angle at B, hypotenuse AC = 13 cm and AB = 5 cm. Triangle DEF has a right angle at E, hypotenuse DF = 13 cm and DE = 5 cm. Which condition proves the two triangles are congruent?
- 8.A circle has a radius of 1 cm. Work out the circumference of the circle. Give your answer in terms of π.
- 9.Lines JK and LM are parallel. A straight line crosses JK at point P and crosses LM at point Q. Angle KPQ = 118°. Angle KPQ and angle MQP are co-interior (allied) angles. Work out angle MQP.
- 10.A circular clock face has a diameter of 18 cm. Work out the circumference of the clock face. Use π = 3.14.
- 11.A quadrilateral has vertices A(1, 1), B(5, 1), C(6, 4) and D(2, 4). By comparing the y-coordinates of A, B and of D, C, write down whether the sides AB and DC are parallel, and give a reason for your answer.
- 12.Triangle ABC has a right angle at B. Triangle DEF has a right angle at E. The hypotenuse of triangle ABC equals the hypotenuse of triangle DEF, and side AB equals side DE. Which condition proves that the two triangles are congruent?
- 13.A line segment is measured with a ruler and found to be 6.5 cm long. What is this length in millimetres?
- 14.Write down the column vector that describes a translation of 4 units to the right and 4 units up.
- 15.The three angles of a triangle are 10°, 58° and 112°. Write down the name that describes this triangle.
