- 1.State whether the line segment joining A(−4, 3) and B(2, 6) is horizontal, vertical or neither, and give a reason for your answer.
- 2.Work out the y-coordinate of the midpoint of the line segment joining (2, 4) and (8, 10).
- 3.A cylindrical tin has a curved surface, a flat circular base and a flat circular lid. A label is stuck around the curved surface only. How many of the tin's faces are NOT covered by the label?
- 4.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, AB = DE, AC = DF, and the angle at A equals the angle at D. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 5.A solid pyramid has a square base of side 6 cm. Its apex is directly above the centre of the base, at a vertical height of 8 cm. Work out the volume of the pyramid.
- 6.Point C is at (2, 3). It is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin. Work out the coordinates of the image of point C.
- 7.A sector of a circle has radius 8 cm and takes up three-quarters of the full circle. Work out the perimeter of the sector, in terms of π.
- 8.A surveyor is marking out field ABCD for a new crop. The plan states that side AB is parallel to side DC, but AB and DC are not equal in length, and sides BC and AD are not parallel to each other. Which term correctly describes the shape of field ABCD?
- 9.A chocolate bar is a prism. Its cross-section is a triangle with a base of 6 cm and a perpendicular height of 5 cm, and the bar is 12 cm long. Work out the volume of the bar.
- 10.The diagram shows a solid built from identical cubes. How many squares are in its plan view, the view looking straight down from above?
- 11.A chord is drawn across a circle, dividing the circle into two regions. Write down the name of one of these two regions.
- 12.Point D is at (3, 4). It is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin (0, 0). Work out the coordinates of the image of point D.
- 13.A translation is described by the column vector . Write down the column vector of the translation that undoes it.
- 14.A written description of a diagram states: 'AB is marked with a single arrow, CD is marked with a single arrow, and EF is marked with a double arrow.' Using the standard convention for marking parallel lines, what can be concluded?
- 15.Two points on a circle divide its circumference into two arcs of different lengths. Write down the name given to the shorter of the two arcs.
