- 1.P is the point (3, 4) and Q is the point (6, 0). Work out the distance of each point from the origin, and write down which point is closer to the origin.
- 2.Write down the name given to a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides.
- 3.A pop-up canopy has two sloping supports that meet at the top. Each support makes an angle of 30° with the ground and is 6 m long. Using the exact value of cos 30°, work out the total width of the canopy's base.
- 4.A stained-glass window panel is designed as a kite. Two adjacent sides are each 25 cm, and the other two adjacent sides are each 40 cm. A frame is fitted around the whole panel. The frame costs £2.50 per metre, sold only in whole metres. Work out the total cost of the frame.
- 5.A solid has one curved surface and two flat circular faces of equal size, one at each end. What is the name of this solid?
- 6.Triangle ABC is similar to triangle PQR. Side AB is 8 cm and corresponds to side PQ, which is 12 cm. Side AC is 6 cm and corresponds to side PR. Work out the length of PR.
- 7.A zip-wire is fixed at an angle of 60° to the horizontal ground. The zip-wire is 12 m long. Using the exact value of cos 60°, work out the exact horizontal distance it covers.
- 8.A sector of a circle has an angle of 90° at the centre. Write down what fraction of the whole circle this sector represents.
- 9.The diagram shows a solid resting on its side on a table. Work out which shape is its plan view, the view looking straight down from above.
- 10.The cross-section of a tent is an isosceles triangle. The angle at the top, between the two equal sloping sides, is 62°. The other two angles are equal to each other. Work out the size of each of those two angles.
- 11.After a translation by the vector , a point lands on (4, 1). Write down the coordinates of the point before the translation.
- 12.a is the column vector with top number 3 and bottom number 2. b is the column vector with top number −1 and bottom number 4. Work out a + b, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 13.Quadrilateral WXYZ has WX parallel to ZY, and WZ = XY (the two non-parallel sides are equal in length). Give a reason why angle W = angle X.
- 14.A vertical line passes through the point (5, 2). Write down the equation of this line.
- 15.A sector of a circle has an angle of 150°. Work out what fraction of the circle's area the sector is.
