- 1.A bead starts at position (2, −1) on a grid, in centimetres. It is moved by the column vector u, with top number 3 and bottom number 5, and then moved by the column vector v, with top number −7 and bottom number 2. Work out the coordinates of the bead's final position.
- 2.A scale drawing of a rectangular lawn uses a scale of 1 : 125. On the drawing, the lawn measures 4 cm by 2.4 cm. Work out the perimeter of the real lawn, in metres.
- 3.In the RHS congruence condition, which three facts must be true about two triangles for RHS to prove they are congruent?
- 4.A chocolate bar is a prism. Its cross-section is a triangle with a base of 6 cm and a perpendicular height of 5 cm, and the bar is 12 cm long. Work out the volume of the bar.
- 5.Point B is at (1, 6). It is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image of point B.
- 6.Write down the number of lines of symmetry a rhombus has.
- 7.Line 1 passes through (0, 1) and (2, 5). Line 2 passes through (3, 2) and (5, 6). Work out the gradient of each line. Then write down whether the two lines are parallel.
- 8.A tent is shaped like a triangular prism: two triangular end faces and three rectangular faces. One of the rectangular faces lies flat on the ground as the groundsheet. How many of the tent's faces are above the ground, not touching the ground?
- 9.A rectangular gate is braced with a diagonal strut. The gate is 1.2 m wide and 0.9 m tall. Work out the exact length of the diagonal strut.
- 10.A vertical flagpole casts a shadow 6 m long at the same time as a 1.2 m vertical post casts a shadow 1.8 m long. The flagpole and the post are both vertical, and the triangles formed by each object, its shadow, and the sun's ray are similar. Work out the height of the flagpole.
- 11.A hexagonal prism has 8 faces and 12 vertices. Using F + V − E = 2, work out how many edges it has.
- 12.A textbook contains the instruction 'Draw AB' and, on the next line, the statement 'AB = 5 cm'. Which statement about the notation AB is correct?
- 13.A rectangular photograph is 12 cm long and 5 cm wide. Work out the perimeter of the photograph.
- 14.Two triangles are similar. The sides of the first triangle are 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm. The shortest side of the second triangle is 9 cm. Work out the scale factor from the first triangle to the second.
- 15.Work out the distance between the point (0, 0) and the point (5, 12).
