- 1.A quadrilateral has all four sides equal in length and all four interior angles equal to 90°. Its diagonals are equal in length and bisect each other at right angles. Which quadrilateral matches this description exactly?
- 2.Triangle ABC has AB = 6 cm, BC = 8 cm and angle B = 90°. Triangle XYZ has XY = 6 cm, YZ = 8 cm and angle Y = 90°. Which congruence statement correctly shows the matching vertices?
- 3.The diagram shows a solid made from two cuboids joined together. Which shape is the front elevation of this solid?
- 4.A cuboid has a length, width and height that are all different from each other. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
- 5.A robotic arm's tip starts at the point (12.5, −4.25) on a grid measured in centimetres. It moves by the vector to pick up a component, then by the vector to place it. Work out the coordinates of the tip after both moves.
- 6.A rectangular photograph is 12 cm long and 5 cm wide. Work out the perimeter of the photograph.
- 7.Write down which quadrant contains the point (−3, 5) when plotted on a coordinate grid.
- 8.Work out the distance between the points (−3, 4) and (5, −2).
- 9.In a right-angled triangle, the two shorter sides are a and b, and the hypotenuse is c. Write down the correct statement of Pythagoras' theorem.
- 10.p is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number 2. q is the column vector with top number 1 and bottom number 6. Work out p + q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 11.In a phone game, a character starts at the point (−5, 2) on a grid. It moves by the vector to collect a coin. The player now wants the character's next single move to finish at the point (3, 0). Write down the column vector of that second move.
- 12.A hexagonal prism lies on a table. A flat cut is made straight across it, at right angles to its length (so the cut is parallel to the two identical end faces). What shape is the cross-section?
- 13.A scale model of a bridge is built so that 2 cm on the model represents 5 m of the real bridge. The real bridge is 45 m long. Work out the length of the model bridge, in centimetres.
- 14.Quadrilateral WXYZ has WX parallel to ZY, and WZ = XY (the two non-parallel sides are equal in length). Give a reason why angle W = angle X.
- 15.A straight transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one crossing point, the angle between the transversal and a parallel line is 118°. Work out the size of the co-interior (allied) angle at the other crossing point.
