- 1.A translation is described by the column vector . Write down the column vector of the translation that undoes it.
- 2.The diagram shows a solid made from two cuboids joined together. Which shape is the front elevation of this solid?
- 3.Four angles meet at a point. Three of them measure 82°, 105° and 96°. Work out the size of the fourth angle.
- 4.The interior angles of a pentagon are 100°, 110°, 120°, x° and x°. Work out the size of each of the two angles marked x°.
- 5.A ramp is built from two straight metal supports that rest on the flat ground and meet each other at the top, forming a triangle with the ground. One support meets the ground at 34°. The angle between the two supports where they meet is 71°. Work out the angle between the second support and the ground.
- 6.A solid is built from centimetre cubes standing on a table. Seen from the front, the left-hand column is 2 cubes high, the middle column is 2 cubes high and the right-hand column is 1 cube high. Work out how many squares make up the front elevation.
- 7.A designer enlarges a drawing of a model car for a poster. She first enlarges the drawing by a scale factor of 1.5, and then enlarges that result by a further scale factor of 2. On the original drawing, the position of a wheel relative to the front bumper is given by the column vector with top number 4 and bottom number −3, in centimetres. What is the corresponding column vector on the poster, in centimetres?
- 8.A vertical line passes through the point (5, 2). Write down the equation of this line.
- 9.A chord is drawn across a circle, dividing the circle into two regions. Write down the name of one of these two regions.
- 10.Two straight lines cross at a point. To find the points that are the same distance from both lines, which construction should be used?
- 11.Two straight lines PQ and RS cross at point O. Angle POR = 52°. Work out angle QOS.
- 12.Two of the angles in a triangle are 50° and 70°. Work out the size of the third angle.
- 13.A sector of a circle has an angle of 90° at the centre. Write down what fraction of the whole circle this sector represents.
- 14.A solid is a single cube. Its plan view (from above), front elevation (from the front) and side elevation (from the side) are drawn separately. What shape is each of these three views?
- 15.A construction for the perpendicular bisector of AB begins by opening a pair of compasses to more than half the length of AB, then drawing an arc centred at A. What is the next step?
