- 1.A straight transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one crossing point, the angle between the transversal and a parallel line is 118°. Work out the size of the co-interior (allied) angle at the other crossing point.
- 2.p is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number 1. q is the column vector with top number −2 and bottom number 3. Work out p − 2q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 3.Work out the exact value of sin 30° + cos 60°.
- 4.The diagram shows a prism resting on a table. Which shape is its front elevation, the view looking at it from directly in front?
- 5.A shape is made by joining two rectangles edge to edge, with no overlap. One rectangle measures 12 cm by 4 cm and the other measures 4 cm by 8 cm. Work out the total area of the shape.
- 6.A student draws a net using 5 identical squares arranged in a row of four with one extra square attached to the side of one of them. Can this net be folded to make a closed cube?
- 7.Write down the column vector that describes a translation of 5 units to the left and 3 units down.
- 8.Triangle PQR and triangle XYZ have angle P = angle X, angle Q = angle Y and angle R = angle Z, with no side lengths given for either triangle. Which of the following correctly describes the relationship between the two triangles?
- 9.Vertex X of a triangle is at (−3, 5). After a translation, the image of X is at (2, −1). Write down the column vector of this translation.
- 10.Four angles meet at a point. Three of them measure 82°, 105° and 96°. Work out the size of the fourth angle.
- 11.A is the point (1, 3) and B is the point (7, 3). Work out the coordinates of the midpoint of AB.
- 12.A picture frame is a rhombus with a diagonal of 16 cm and a diagonal of 12 cm. The two diagonals meet at right angles at their midpoints. Work out the length of one side of the rhombus.
- 13.A rectangular tile measures 4.5 cm by 6 cm. Work out the area of the tile.
- 14.The point A(2, 5) is translated to the point B(7, 3). Write down the column vector that describes this translation.
- 15.How many vertices does a square-based pyramid have?
