- 1.Two circles are drawn with the same centre but different radii. Write down the term used to describe this pair of circles.
- 2.A cable supporting a flagpole is anchored to the ground 5 m from the base of the pole. The cable makes an angle of 60° with the ground. Using the exact value of tan 60°, work out the exact height of the flagpole.
- 3.Work out the exact value of sin 45° × cos 45°.
- 4.Lines AB and CD cross at a point, forming four right angles where they meet. Which notation correctly describes the relationship between AB and CD?
- 5.A map has a scale of 1 : 25000. A distance between two points measures 2 cm on the map. What is the real distance, in kilometres?
- 6.Two similar hexagonal tiles have lengths in the ratio 4 : 7. A side of the smaller tile is 8.4 cm long. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the larger tile.
- 7.What does the statement AB = CD mean, where A, B, C and D are all points?
- 8.A chord divides a circle into two segments of different sizes. Write down the name given to the smaller of the two segments.
- 9.A translation moves the point (1, 1) to the point (9, 4). Write down the column vector of this translation.
- 10.A drone starts at the point (3.5, −2) on a grid measured in metres. It flies by the vector to check a first sensor. The drone then needs to fly in a straight line to reach the point (−1.7, 9) to check a second sensor. Work out the column vector of this second flight.
- 11.Write down the column vector that describes a translation of 4 units to the right and 4 units up.
- 12.In triangle ABC the angle at A and the angle at C are equal. The side AB is extended beyond B, and the exterior angle formed at B measures 98°. Work out the size of the angle at A.
- 13.Triangle LMN has a right angle at M, with hypotenuse LN = 15 cm and LM = 9 cm. Triangle PQR has a right angle at Q, with hypotenuse PR = 15 cm and PQ = 9 cm. Which condition proves the two triangles are congruent?
- 14.Point C is at (2, 3). It is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin. Work out the coordinates of the image of point C.
- 15.Point B is at (1, 6). It is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image of point B.
