- 1.A robot on a grid moves by the vector , then by the vector , then by the vector . Write down the single column vector that has the same overall effect as these three moves.
- 2.Rectangle ABCD has vertices A(−1, 2), B(4, 2), C(4, 5) and D(−1, 5). The rectangle is translated so that C moves to (0, −1). Write down the coordinates of the image of A.
- 3.A courier drone delivers a parcel. It starts at the point (2, 1) on a map grid measured in kilometres. It flies by the vector to a warehouse, then by the vector to the delivery address. Work out the coordinates of the delivery address.
- 4.Triangle T has a vertex at (8, 4). It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1/2, centre (2, 4). Work out the coordinates of the image of this vertex.
- 5.A scale drawing of a bridge uses a scale of 1 : 25. A support beam on the drawing measures 4.4 cm. What is the real length of the beam, in metres?
- 6.A straight line crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one of the crossing points, one of the four angles measures 55°. Work out the size of the angle next to it on a straight line at that crossing point.
- 7.The point (4, −3) is reflected in the y-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image point.
- 8.Triangle JKL and triangle MNP are similar, with JK ÷ MN = JL ÷ MP = 2. A student says triangle JKL must be congruent to triangle MNP. Write down why the student is wrong.
- 9.The vector describes a translation. A student writes it as by mistake. Write down what error the student has made.
- 10.A shop stacks identical storage crates in a display. The diagram shows the plan of the floor positions used, with one corner position marked. Every floor position is filled with crates stacked 3 high, except the marked corner position, which is left completely empty. Work out how many crates are used in total.
- 11.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
- 12.A is the point (1, 3) and B is the point (7, 3). Work out the coordinates of the midpoint of AB.
- 13.Every diameter of a circle is an example of a more general type of straight line joining two points on the circle. Which term names that more general type of line?
- 14.A trapezium-shaped allotment plot has two parallel sides that face each other, and two sloping sides that are equal in length (an isosceles trapezium). One of the angles next to the shorter parallel side is 118°. Work out the angle next to the other end of the same shorter parallel side.
- 15.What does the statement AB = CD mean, where A, B, C and D are all points?
