- 1.A polygon has one more side than a heptagon. What is the polygon called?
- 2.At a point on a straight line, two angles are formed. One of them is 63°. Work out the size of the other angle.
- 3.Triangles ABE and CDE share the vertex E, where lines AC and BD cross at E. AE equals CE, and BE equals DE. Angle AEB and angle CED are formed as vertically opposite angles where the lines cross. Which condition proves that triangle ABE is congruent to triangle CDE?
- 4.A straight transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one crossing point, the angle between the transversal and a parallel line is 118°. Work out the size of the co-interior (allied) angle at the other crossing point.
- 5.A rectangular name card has a perimeter of 30 cm. The card is 9 cm long. Work out the width of the card.
- 6.A garden bed is designed as a trapezium. The two parallel sides are 8 m and 12 m, and the perpendicular distance between them is 5 m. Grass seed covers 4 m² per bag, sold only in whole bags. Work out how many bags of grass seed are needed.
- 7.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, AB = DE, angle ABC = angle DEF and BC = EF. Write down the congruence condition that proves the two triangles are congruent.
- 8.A triangle has vertices A(0, 0), B(10, 0) and C(5, 12). Work out the area of the triangle.
- 9.Two of the angles in a triangle are 50° and 70°. Work out the size of the third angle.
- 10.In quadrilateral ABCD the two sides AB and BC are each 6 cm long and meet each other at B. The two sides CD and DA are each 9 cm long and meet each other at D. No side of ABCD is parallel to any other side. Write down the mathematical name of this quadrilateral.
- 11.A ramp's sloped surface crosses two horizontal parallel rails. At the top rail, the angle between the ramp and the rail on the right of the ramp is (3x + 10)°. At the bottom rail, the angle between the ramp and the rail on the left of the ramp is (5x − 30)°. Work out the value of x.
- 12.A regular polygon has 5 lines of symmetry. What is the order of rotational symmetry of this polygon?
- 13.Write down the term for the distance all the way around the edge of a circle.
- 14.A polygon has 9 sides. What is the name of this polygon?
- 15.An angle measures 108°. Write down the name given to an angle of this size.
