- 1.A garden bed is designed as a trapezium. The two parallel sides are 8 m and 12 m, and the perpendicular distance between them is 5 m. Grass seed covers 4 m² per bag, sold only in whole bags. Work out how many bags of grass seed are needed.
- 2.A polygon has 12 straight sides. What is the mathematical name for this polygon?
- 3.A solid is built from centimetre cubes standing on a table. Seen from the front, the left-hand column is 2 cubes high, the middle column is 2 cubes high and the right-hand column is 1 cube high. Work out how many squares make up the front elevation.
- 4.Write down the term for the distance all the way around the edge of a circle.
- 5.How many edges does a cube have?
- 6.Triangle PQR has vertices P(0, 0), Q(6, 0) and R(0, 8). Work out the perimeter of the triangle.
- 7.Write down how many right angles a rectangle has.
- 8.Angle ABC is 130°. The line BF divides angle ABC into two equal parts. Work out the size of angle FBC.
- 9.A sector of a circle has radius 5 cm and angle 72°. Work out the arc length of the sector, in terms of π.
- 10.Write down the exact value of tan 0°.
- 11.Triangle ABC has angle A = 40°, angle B = 65° and AB = 10 cm. Triangle DEF has angle D = 40°, angle E = 65° and DE = 10 cm. Which condition proves the two triangles are congruent?
- 12.A tile is described as having two pairs of parallel sides, four equal sides, and diagonals that cross at right angles but are not equal in length. Give a reason why this tile cannot be a square.
- 13.A triangular prism has two triangular end faces and three rectangular faces joining them. How many faces does it have in total?
- 14.A cyclist rides around a perfectly circular track with centre O. At every moment of the ride, the distance from O to the cyclist is exactly the same. Which term names this fixed distance?
- 15.A solid cube has a volume of 8 cm³. Work out the length of one edge of the cube.
