- 1.The diagram shows a solid built from identical cubes. How many squares are in its plan view, the view looking straight down from above?
- 2.Two triangles are congruent to each other. What does this tell you about their angles and sides?
- 3.Compasses are opened to exactly half the length of AB, and arcs are drawn centred at A and at B, to construct the perpendicular bisector of AB. Why does this fail?
- 4.The diagram shows a prism resting on a table. Which shape is its front elevation, the view looking at it from directly in front?
- 5.A sector of a circle is bounded by two straight edges and one curved edge. Write down the mathematical term for each of the two straight edges.
- 6.A cuboid has three different edge lengths: a length, a width and a height, all different from each other. How many rectangles make up its net in total?
- 7.Quadrilateral ABCD has vertices A(1, 1), B(5, 1), C(5, 4) and D(1, 4). The quadrilateral is translated by the vector . Which of these points is NOT a vertex of the image?
- 8.p is the column vector with top number 4 and bottom number −3. Work out 2p, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 9.Four angles meet at a point. Three of them measure 82°, 105° and 96°. Work out the size of the fourth angle.
- 10.Lines GH and JK are parallel. A straight line crosses GH at point M and crosses JK at point N. Angle HMN = 71°. Angle HMN and angle MNK are alternate angles. Work out angle MNK.
- 11.Write down the exact value of sin 60°.
- 12.A square-based pyramid has a square base and four identical triangular sloping faces, with its apex directly above the centre of the base. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
- 13.Two sides of a triangle are 9 cm and 15 cm long. Write down which one of these lengths is possible for the third side.
- 14.In parallelogram PQRS, angle P = 65°. Which reason correctly explains why angle R = 65°?
- 15.A robotic arm's tip starts at the point (12.5, −4.25) on a grid measured in centimetres. It moves by the vector to pick up a component, then by the vector to place it. Work out the coordinates of the tip after both moves.
