- 1.After a translation by the vector , a point lands on (4, 1). Write down the coordinates of the point before the translation.
- 2.A bead starts at position (2, −1) on a grid, in centimetres. It is moved by the column vector u, with top number 3 and bottom number 5, and then moved by the column vector v, with top number −7 and bottom number 2. Work out the coordinates of the bead's final position.
- 3.A hiker walks due west. What is the three-figure bearing for this direction?
- 4.Triangle JKL and triangle MNP are similar, with JK ÷ MN = JL ÷ MP = 2. A student says triangle JKL must be congruent to triangle MNP. Write down why the student is wrong.
- 5.The interior angles of a pentagon are 100°, 110°, 120°, x° and x°. Work out the size of each of the two angles marked x°.
- 6.A flower bed in the shape of a parallelogram has a base of 3.5 m and a perpendicular height of 2 m. Compost costs £4.80 per m². Work out the total cost of covering the flower bed with compost.
- 7.Two similar triangles have lengths in the ratio 5 : 8. A side of the smaller triangle is 6.5 cm. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the larger triangle.
- 8.A triangle has vertices A(1, 1), B(5, 1) and C(5, 4). Work out the lengths of AB, BC and CA, and write down whether triangle ABC is right-angled.
- 9.In parallelogram ABCD the vertices are labelled in order round the shape, so angle A and angle B are at the two ends of the same side. Angle A is 70°. Work out the size of angle B.
- 10.A photograph is 10 cm wide and 15 cm tall. It is enlarged to make a similar poster that is 40 cm wide. The poster costs £0.80 per centimetre of its height to print, based on its full height. Work out the cost of printing the poster.
- 11.Point E is at (4, 2). It is rotated 180° about the point (1, 1). Work out the coordinates of the image of point E.
- 12.p is the column vector with top number 4 and bottom number −3. Work out 2p, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 13.The diagram shows the plan, front elevation and side elevation of a solid. Which of these solids matches all three views?
