- 1.Point D is at (3, 4). It is rotated 90° clockwise about the origin (0, 0). Work out the coordinates of the image of point D.
- 2.A cuboid has a length, width and height that are all different from each other. How many planes of symmetry does it have?
- 3.The vector describes a translation. A student writes it as by mistake. Write down what error the student has made.
- 4.The column vector r has top number 2 and bottom number 6. Which of these column vectors is parallel to r?
- 5.Two straight lines AB and CD cross at point O. Angle AOC = 74°. Work out angle AOD.
- 6.Two triangles are congruent to each other. What does this tell you about their angles and sides?
- 7.Two metal window frames are checked before installation. Frame A has edges of 40 cm and 65 cm, with a marked angle of 35° at the far end of the 65 cm edge, away from where the two given edges meet. Frame B has matching edges of 40 cm and 65 cm, with a matching 35° angle in the same position. The fitter wants to know if these measurements alone guarantee the two frames are congruent. What should the fitter be told?
- 8.A hiker starts by walking on a bearing of 245°. She turns clockwise through 50°, then turns clockwise through a further 15°, and continues walking in a straight line. What bearing is she now walking on?
- 9.A tangent to a circle with centre O touches the circle at point P, where OP = 5 cm. Point Q lies on the tangent so that PQ = 12 cm. Using the fact that a tangent is perpendicular to the radius at the point of contact, work out the length OQ.
- 10.A surveyor is marking out field ABCD for a new crop. The plan states that side AB is parallel to side DC, but AB and DC are not equal in length, and sides BC and AD are not parallel to each other. Which term correctly describes the shape of field ABCD?
- 11.Point D is at (3, 7). It is reflected in the line y = x. Work out the coordinates of the image of point D.y = x
- 12.A sector of a circle has an angle of 150°. Work out what fraction of the circle's area the sector is.
- 13.Shape S has a vertex at (9, 6). It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1/3, centre the origin. Work out the coordinates of the image of this vertex.
- 14.A square-based pyramid is cut by a flat plane parallel to its base, partway up between the base and the apex. What shape is the cross-section?
- 15.A hiker walks on a bearing of 065°. She then turns clockwise through 90° and continues walking in a straight line. What bearing is she now walking on?
