- 1.A transversal crosses a pair of parallel lines. At one line, the angle is (5x + 4)°. The corresponding angle at the other line is (3x + 24)°. Work out the value of x.
- 2.Two identical ladders lean against the same vertical wall from opposite sides, each making an angle of 58.2° with the ground. The two ladders and the ground form a triangle. Work out the size of the angle between the two ladders at the top, where they meet.
- 3.The bearing of a campsite B from a walker's position A is 070°. What is the bearing of A from B?
- 4.Triangle DEF is isosceles, with DE = DF. Angle E = 58°. Give a reason why angle F = 58°.
- 5.Two points on a circle divide its circumference into two arcs of different lengths. Write down the name given to the shorter of the two arcs.
- 6.A triangular badge has two sides of length 8 cm and a third side of length 5 cm. Work out the perimeter of the badge.
- 7.Lines GH and JK are parallel. A straight line crosses GH at point M and crosses JK at point N. Angle HMN = 71°. Angle HMN and angle MNK are alternate angles. Work out angle MNK.
- 8.A circle has centre O. PQ, RS and TU are three chords of the circle, and only one of them passes through O. Write down what this tells you about that chord.
- 9.Point M lies exactly halfway between point A and point B, with A, M and B all on the same straight line. Which term correctly describes point M?
- 10.Which of the following correctly describes what it means for two lines to be perpendicular?
- 11.A sailmaker cuts two triangular sail panels from a pattern. Panel X has a 10 m side, with angles of 50° and 75° at its two ends. Panel Y also has a 10 m side, with angles of 50° and 75° at its two ends, in the same arrangement. The sailmaker wants to check the panels will match exactly, without cutting a third measurement. Which condition proves the two panels are congruent?
- 12.A shape is translated by the vector . The point P(6, 1) lies on the shape. Write down the coordinates of the image of P.
- 13.A sector of a circle has an angle of 90° at the centre. Write down what fraction of the whole circle this sector represents.
- 14.A rectangular notice board measures 150 cm by 80 cm. Work out its area in m².
