- 1.A rectangular gate is braced with a diagonal strut. The gate is 1.2 m wide and 0.9 m tall. Work out the exact length of the diagonal strut.
- 2.Write down the number of lines of symmetry a rhombus has.
- 3.Two triangles are congruent to each other. What does this tell you about their angles and sides?
- 4.Write down the exact value of cos 60°.
- 5.Two sides of a triangle are 9 cm and 15 cm long. Write down which one of these lengths is possible for the third side.
- 6.p is the column vector with top number 5 and bottom number 1. q is the column vector with top number −2 and bottom number 3. Work out p − 2q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 7.A shape is translated by the vector , and one vertex of the image is at the point (1, 6). The original shape is instead translated by the vector . Work out the coordinates of the image of that same vertex under this second translation.
- 8.A triangular bunting flag has two equal sides. The angle between those two equal sides is 80°, and the other two angles of the flag are equal to each other. Work out the size of each of the two equal angles.
- 9.A circle has circumference 31.4 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the radius of the circle.
- 10.The point (5, −2) is reflected in the x-axis. Work out the coordinates of the image point.
- 11.A survey team measures the angle between two fences with a protractor and gets a reading of 254°. What type of angle is this?
- 12.A designer creates a repeating tile pattern. Each tile is translated from the one before it by the column vector with top number 4.5 and bottom number −2.5 (in centimetres). The first tile has its bottom-left corner at (1.5, 3). Work out the coordinates of the bottom-left corner of the third tile.
- 13.Two similar ponds have perimeters in the ratio 4 : 11. The perimeter of the larger pond is 88 m. Work out the perimeter of the smaller pond.
- 14.Two similar flags have widths in the ratio 2 : 5. The width of the smaller flag is 8 cm. Work out the width of the larger flag.
- 15.Triangle ABC has a right angle at B. Triangle DEF has a right angle at E. The hypotenuse of triangle ABC equals the hypotenuse of triangle DEF, and side AB equals side DE. Which condition proves that the two triangles are congruent?
