- 1.A square-based pyramid is cut by a flat plane parallel to its base, partway up between the base and the apex. What shape is the cross-section?
- 2.A triangle has a base of 8 cm and a perpendicular height of 5 cm. Work out its area.

- 9.A pin on a map is at grid reference (5, 2). It is moved by the vector . Write down its new grid reference.
- 10.A right-angled triangle has a hypotenuse of 10 cm. One of its other angles is 45°. Work out the exact length of one of the two shorter sides.
- 11.A straight line crosses two parallel lines. One of the angles formed is (2x + 10)°, and the angle alternate to it is 74°. Work out the value of x.
- 12.A chord divides a circle into two regions, one larger than the other. Write down the term used for the smaller of these two regions.
- 13.p is the column vector with top number 2 and bottom number 3. q is the column vector with top number −1 and bottom number 4. Work out 2p + q, giving your answer as a column vector in the form (top, bottom).
- 14.A garden shed is shaped like a triangular prism: two identical vertical triangular end walls (the gable ends), joined by a sloping rectangular roof and a vertical rectangular back wall. Looking at the shed from directly above (the plan view), what shape is seen?
- 15.Each of these has an exact value. Write down the one whose value is the greatest.
