- 1.A rectangle has vertices A(1, 1), B(4, 1), C(4, 5) and D(1, 5). Work out the perimeter of the rectangle.
- 2.A wooden cube has edges of length 4 cm. Work out the total surface area of the cube.
- 3.The sum of the interior angles of a polygon is 1980°. Work out the number of sides of the polygon.
- 4.Point B is at (3, 5). It is reflected in the line y = 2. Work out the coordinates of the image of point B.
- 5.A submarine travels due south. What is the three-figure bearing for this direction?
- 6.Triangle ABC has AB = 5 cm and BC = 7 cm. Triangle DEF has DE = 5 cm and EF = 7 cm. Which extra fact would prove the triangles are congruent by SAS?
- 7.Which pair of points lies on a horizontal line when the points are plotted on a coordinate grid?
- 8.A student draws a net using 5 identical squares arranged in a row of four with one extra square attached to the side of one of them. Can this net be folded to make a closed cube?
- 9.A locus is described as the set of points exactly 4 cm from a fixed point O. What shape is this locus?
- 10.Two metal window frames are checked before installation. Frame A has edges of 40 cm and 65 cm, with a marked angle of 35° at the far end of the 65 cm edge, away from where the two given edges meet. Frame B has matching edges of 40 cm and 65 cm, with a matching 35° angle in the same position. The fitter wants to know if these measurements alone guarantee the two frames are congruent. What should the fitter be told?
- 11.In triangle ABC and triangle DEF, the angle at A and the angle at D are both 40°, and the angle at B and the angle at E are both 70°. No side lengths are given. Write down whether the two triangles must be similar, with the reason.
- 12.A map has a scale of 1 : 25000. A distance between two points measures 2 cm on the map. What is the real distance, in kilometres?
- 13.A hiker walks due west. What is the three-figure bearing for this direction?
- 14.Two straight lines cross at a point. To find the points that are the same distance from both lines, which construction should be used?
- 15.In an isosceles triangle each of the two base angles is 46°. Work out the size of the angle at the apex.
