- 1.Josh buys 7 pencils at 85p each. He pays with a £10 note. Work out his change.
- 2.A jug holds 1.8 litres of juice. Priya pours out 3/4 of a litre to fill a glass. Work out how much juice is left in the jug, in millilitres.
- 3.A market trader buys 8 melons at £1.35 each. He sells all of them for a total of £15.60. Work out his profit.
- 4.A box stands on a table. The box exerts a force of 240 N on the table, and the base of the box has an area of 0.8 m². Work out the pressure the box exerts on the table, in N/m².
- 5.A train leaves Leeds at 14:35. The journey takes 1 hour 50 minutes. Work out the time the train arrives. Give your answer using the 24-hour clock.
- 6.Rice is sold in a 400 g bag for £1.12 and in a 1.5 kg bag for £3.90. Work out how much less the rice in the larger bag costs per kilogram.
- 7.A lorry travels 105 miles in 1 hour 45 minutes. Work out its average speed in miles per hour.
- 8.A tin of soup has a mass of 450 g. A bag of potatoes has a mass of 2.6 kg. Work out the total mass, in kilograms.
- 9.A tin of beans has a mass of 650 g. A bag of rice has a mass of 1.35 kg. Work out the total mass, in kilograms.
- 10.A cyclist rides at a steady speed of 8 metres per second. Work out this speed in kilometres per hour.
- 11.A car travels 180 km using 6 litres of fuel. Work out the car's fuel consumption in kilometres per litre, then work out how many kilometres it can travel on a full tank of 12 litres at this rate.
- 12.The density of a type of plastic is 0.9 g/cm³. Work out this density in kg/m³.
- 13.Maya buys 4 plants at £3.20 each and a bag of compost for £6.75. She pays with a £20 note. Work out her change.
- 14.A flight departs at 21:35 and lands at 06:10 the following morning. Work out the total flight time.
- 15.Petrol costs £1.48 per litre. Sam buys 35 litres and pays with three £20 notes. Work out his change.
