- 1.A recipe for pancakes uses 240 g of flour to make pancakes for 6 people. Work out how many grams of flour are needed to make pancakes for 15 people, using the same recipe.
- 2.In a bag, the ratio of green counters to yellow counters is 3 : 8. There are 24 yellow counters. A student says, 'There must be 9 green counters.' Is the student correct? Choose the correct verdict and reason.

Dividing 240 by 15 and then multiplying by 6 gives 96 g — that uses the ratio the wrong way round, scaling down instead of up. Stopping at 40 g only gives the amount for one person, not for 15.
