- 1.A prize fund of £240 is shared between two winners in the ratio 3 : 5. Write the smaller winner's share as a fraction of the whole prize fund.
- 2.Work out the time taken to travel 120 km at an average speed of 60 km/h.
- 3.A laptop priced at £520 is first increased by 15%, and then the new price is decreased by 20%. Work out the final price of the laptop.

- 7.Write the ratio 0.75 : 2 as a ratio of whole numbers in its simplest form.
- 8.A cyclist travels 45 km in 3 hours at a constant speed. Work out the cyclist's average speed, in km/h.
- 9.Which of these ratios is already written in its simplest form?
- 10.A model car is built at a scale of 1 : 20 compared with the real car. Work out the factor by which the surface area to be painted on the real car is bigger than the surface area of the model.
- 11.A glass holds 250 ml of squash. Work out how many of these glasses are needed to fill a 1 litre bottle.
- 12.A coach journey of 240 km takes 3 hours. For this fixed distance the average speed needed is inversely proportional to the time taken. Work out the average speed needed to complete the same journey in 2 hours.
- 13.A graph shows y plotted against x. The graph is a curve that gets closer to both axes but never touches them, and y decreases as x increases. Write down whether this graph could show direct proportion, inverse proportion, or neither.
- 14.Write 250 g : 2 kg as a ratio in its simplest form.
- 15.1 litre = 100 centilitres. Work out how many centilitres there are in 6 litres.
