- 1.A sequence has the position-to-term rule n² + 1, where n is the position number. Work out how much bigger the 5th term is than the 4th term.
- 2.A circle has centre (0, 0) and equation x² + y² = 50. Work out the radius of the circle, giving your answer as a surd in its simplest form.
- 3.Solve 2(x + 3) = 10
- 4.Simplify (2x² + 7x + 3) ÷ (x² − 9), giving your answer as a single fraction.
- 5.A company's profit was £2000 in its first year. Each following year, the profit increases by £800. Work out the first year in which the profit is more than £7000.
- 6.Solve the inequality 9 − 2x ≥ 1.
- 7.A point has coordinates (x, y). In which two quadrants is the product x × y positive?
- 8.The solution set of an inequality is described as: x is less than −3, or x is greater than or equal to 1. Write this solution set using set notation.
- 9.A parcel delivery company's cost graph shows the following: the cost is a flat £5 for parcels weighing up to 2 kg, and then rises by £2 for each additional kg above 2 kg. Use the graph to work out the weight of a parcel that costs £17.
