- 1.Factorise 6x² − 7x − 3.
- 2.A circle has centre (0, 0) and passes through the point (12, 35). Work out the equation of the circle.
- 3.A hot air balloon is at a height of 20 m and rises at a steady rate. After 4 minutes it is at a height of 52 m. Work out the rate at which the balloon rises, in metres per minute.
- 4.The nth term of a sequence is 2n² + 1. Work out the 4th term of the sequence.
- 5.By completing the square, find the turning point of the curve y = 2x² − 8x + 3.y = 2x² − 8x + 3
- 6.A geometric sequence begins 162, 54, 18, 6, ... Work out the next term in the sequence.
- 7.A tram sets off from a stop. Its velocity-time graph rises in a straight line from 0 m/s to 12 m/s over the first 8 seconds, then stays constant at 12 m/s for a further 10 seconds. Work out the total distance the tram travels in these 18 seconds, using the area under the graph.
- 8.Two brothers have ages that add up to 30. The elder brother is 6 years older than the younger brother. Work out the age of the younger brother.
- 9.A straight line passes through the points (2, 5) and (4, 11). Work out the gradient of the line.
- 10.Which of these statements is an equation with exactly one solution?
