- 1.Yusuf has £40 saved and adds £6 each week. His sister Aisha has £10 saved and adds £11 each week. After how many weeks will they have saved the same amount?
- 2.The graph of y = x² − 4x is translated by the vector (3, 0). Work out the equation of the image, giving your answer in the form y = x² + bx + c.y = x² − 4xy = x²
- 3.A number, n, is doubled and then 7 is subtracted. The result is 15. Form an equation and solve it to find n.
- 4.The graph of y = f(x) has a minimum turning point at (2, −3). The graph of y = −f(x) + a has a maximum turning point at (2, 9). Work out the value of a.
- 5.The graph of y = sin x is reflected in the x-axis to give the graph of y = g(x). Work out the value of g(90), where x is measured in degrees.y = sin(x)
- 6.Solve the inequality 5 − x ≤ 2.
- 7.Line L has equation y = 2x + 3. Work out the equation of the line perpendicular to L that passes through the point (4, 1), giving your answer in the form x + 2y = c.y = 2x + 3
- 8.A straight line has equation 4y = 12x + 20. Work out the gradient of the line.y = 12x + 20
- 9.The curve y = 2x² − 12x + 7 has a minimum point. By completing the square, find the value of x at which the minimum occurs.y = 2x² − 12x + 7
- 10.A circle has centre (0, 0) and equation x² + y² = 50. Work out the radius of the circle, giving your answer as a surd in its simplest form.
- 11.Which of these quadratic graphs does NOT cross the x-axis at all?
- 12.The first five terms of a quadratic sequence are 5, 8, 13, 20, 29. Work out the next term in the sequence.
- 13.The graph of y = f(x) has a root (an x-intercept) at x = 5. Work out the x-coordinate of the corresponding root on the graph of y = f(x + 2).
- 14.The nth term of a sequence is 4n + 2. A term in the sequence has value 30. Work out its position, n, in the sequence.
- 15.The curve y = −x² + 6x − 5 has a maximum point. Use completing the square to find its coordinates.y = −x² + 6x − 5
