- 1.A region R satisfies y ≤ x + 1, x + y ≤ 5 and y ≥ 0. Which of these correctly describes R in words?
- 2.Solve the inequality 3x + 6 ≤ 0.
- 3.A geometric sequence has first term 5, and each term after that is 3 times the term before it. Work out the first term of the sequence that is greater than 1000.
- 4.The 2nd term of a geometric sequence is 6 and the 4th term is 24. Given that all the terms of the sequence are positive, work out the common ratio.
- 5.A geometric sequence has first term 3 and common ratio 2. Work out the 5th term of the sequence.
- 6.Solve x² − 100 = 0.
- 7.A sequence has the position-to-term rule n² − 3, where n is the position number. Work out the difference between the 6th term and the 5th term.
- 8.Subtract, giving your answer as a single fraction in its simplest form: 4/(x − 1) − 2/(x + 3)
- 9.A rule turns each input into an output. An input of 0 gives an output of −1, an input of 1 gives an output of 1, and an input of 2 gives an output of 3. Work out the rule, writing the input as x and the output as y.
- 10.A charity's fundraising total, T pounds, over d days follows T = (d − 3)(30 − d) for 3 ≤ d ≤ 30, where T = 0 marks the start and end of the campaign. Work out how many days the campaign runs for, from start to end.
- 11.Work out the coordinates of the point halfway between (−9, −2) and (−1, −2).
- 12.Simplify 5a/6 − a/3
- 13.A straight line passes through the points (−1, 2) and (3, 14). Work out the equation of the line.
- 14.A number machine multiplies its input by 3 and then adds 7. The output is 1. Work out the input.
