1.A gardener wants to buy edging trim to go all the way around a circular flower bed with a diameter of 8 m. Work out the length of edging trim needed, using π = 3.14. Give your answer to the nearest metre.

2.Point P has coordinates (6, 4). P is rotated 90° clockwise about the point (1, 2), and the image is then translated by the vector (−3, 5). Work out the coordinates of the final image of P.

5.A parallelogram has an area of 54 cm² and a base of 9 cm. Work out its perpendicular height.

6.A ladder of length 7 m leans against a vertical wall. The foot of the ladder is 3 m from the base of the wall. Work out how high up the wall the ladder reaches. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.

7.A shape is translated by the vector (5, −3), and the image is then translated by the vector (−5, 3). Which single transformation has the same overall effect as this combination, for every point?

8.A boat sails from a harbour on a bearing of 090° for 24 km to a buoy, then changes course and sails on a bearing of 000° for 16 km to reach an island. Work out the direct distance from the harbour to the island. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.

9.A sector of a circle has radius 12 cm and angle 45°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.

10.A triangle has one unknown side or angle, marked x. In which one of these situations should the sine rule, rather than the cosine rule, be used to find x?

11.A ship leaves port P and sails 24 km on a bearing of 040° to a buoy Q. It then sails 31 km on a bearing of 115° to a lighthouse R. Work out the direct distance from P to R. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.

13.A room measures 4.2 m by 3.6 m. A flooring company needs the area in cm² to order the right amount of vinyl flooring. Work out the area of the room in cm².

14.A ramp is built from two straight metal supports that rest on the flat ground and meet each other at the top, forming a triangle with the ground. One support meets the ground at 34°. The angle between the two supports where they meet is 71°. Work out the angle between the second support and the ground.

15.In triangle ABC, AB = 10 cm, BC = 7 cm and angle ACB = 35°. Given that angle BAC is acute, work out the length of AC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
