- 1.A parallelogram has an area of 54 cm² and a base of 9 cm. Work out its perpendicular height.
- 2.In triangle PQR, PQ = 11 cm, QR = 7 cm and PR = 13 cm. Work out the size of angle PQR. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 3.A composite solid is made from a cylinder of radius 3 cm and height 10 cm, with a cone of the same radius and vertical height 4 cm fixed on top, apex upward. Work out the total volume of the solid. Use π = 3.14 and give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 4.A field ABCD is a convex quadrilateral. AB = 40 m, BC = 32 m and angle ABC = 95°. The other two sides are CD = 25 m and DA = 36 m. Work out the area of the field. Give your answer to the nearest square metre.
- 5.In triangle PQR, PQ = 8 cm and QR = 11 cm. Angle QPR = 50°. A student calculates the area of the triangle as Area = 1/2 × 8 × 11 × sin 50°. Is the student's method correct?
- 6.A model car is built to a scale of 1 : 24. The real car is 4.32 m long. Work out the length of the model, in centimetres.
- 7.A model of a bridge is built to a scale where every length on the model is 1/240 of the matching length on the real bridge. A support beam on the model measures 3.6 cm. Work out the length of the real support beam, giving your answer in metres.
- 8.A warehouse stores identical cube-shaped crates. Its plan view is a 2 by 4 rectangle of crate positions, and every position is filled to a height of 3 crates, except one corner position, which has only 2 crates stacked on it because a delivery was incomplete. How many crates are there in total?
- 9.A rectangle has vertices A(0, 0), B(6, 0), C(6, 4) and D(0, 4). Work out the length of the diagonal AC. Give your answer correct to 2 decimal places.
- 10.PT is a tangent to a circle with centre O, touching the circle at T. OT is a radius. Angle OPT = 27°, where P is a point outside the circle. Work out the size of angle POT.
- 11.In triangle ABC, AB = 10 cm, BC = 7 cm and angle ACB = 35°. Given that angle BAC is acute, work out the length of AC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 12.A tent frame forms a triangle ABC, where AB = 3.5 m is a sloping pole, BC = 2.8 m is the base and AC = 4.2 m is the guy rope. Work out the size of angle ABC, between the pole and the base. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 13.A sector of a circle has an angle of 90° and an area of 78.5 cm². Using π = 3.14, work out the radius of the circle.
- 14.The bearing of a harbour B from a ferry's position A is 260°. What is the bearing of A from B?
- 15.In triangle ABC, AB = 9 cm, AC = 6 cm and angle BAC = 110°. Work out the length of BC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
