- 1.A plan of a school hall uses a scale of 1 : 250. A wall is drawn 3.4 cm long on the plan. Sam wants to know the wall's real length in metres. What is it?
- 2.In triangle ABC, AB = 12 cm, AC = 7 cm and the area of the triangle is 33 cm². Given that angle BAC is obtuse, work out the size of angle BAC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 3.Shape S is enlarged by a scale factor of −3 about a fixed centre. Which statement correctly describes the image compared to the original shape?
- 4.Two bronze statues are geometrically similar and made from the same solid bronze. Their heights are 30 cm and 45 cm. The smaller statue has a mass of 12 kg. Work out the mass of the larger statue, in kg.
- 5.Two similar signs have lengths in the ratio 9 : 4. The larger sign has a side of length 14.4 cm. Work out the length of the corresponding side of the smaller sign.
- 6.A triangular flower bed ABC has AB = 14 m, BC = 9 m and AC = 11 m. Work out the area of the flower bed. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 7.A solid metal sphere has a radius of 5 cm. It is melted down and recast into a solid cylinder with the same radius, 5 cm. Work out the height of the cylinder, so that its volume equals the volume of the sphere. Use π = 3.14 and give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 8.A circular pizza base has a radius of 12 cm. Work out the area of the pizza base. Use π = 3.14.
- 9.A model car is built to a scale of 1 : 24. The real car is 4.32 m long. Work out the length of the model, in centimetres.
- 10.A quadrilateral has both pairs of opposite sides parallel and equal in length, but none of its angles are right angles. Which statement about this quadrilateral is correct?
- 11.In triangle ABC, AB = x cm, AC = (x + 2) cm, BC = 15 cm and angle BAC = 100°. Work out the value of x. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 12.A cuboid-shaped shipping crate has a length of 12 m, a width of 5 m, and a volume of 360 m³. Work out the height of the crate, in metres.
- 13.A triangular plot of land ABC is to be covered with turf. AB = 23.5 m, AC = 17.2 m and angle BAC = 108°. Turf costs £4.25 per square metre. Work out the cost of the turf for the plot. Give your answer to the nearest pound.
- 14.A furniture catalogue drawing uses a scale of 1 cm to 1.5 m. A sofa in the drawing is measured as 7 cm long. What is the real length of the sofa, in metres?
- 15.A shopkeeper builds a display from two cuboid boxes, shown in the diagram. She wants to cover the front of the display with coloured paper. Work out the total area of the front elevation, in square centimetres.
