- 1.A triangular solar panel has two edges of length 1.8 m and 1.3 m, with an angle of 72° between them. Manufacturing the panel costs £85 per square metre. Work out the total manufacturing cost. Give your answer to the nearest penny.
- 2.A sector of a circle has radius 15 cm and angle 216°. Using π = 3.14, work out the arc length of the sector.
- 3.Two bronze statues are geometrically similar and made from the same solid bronze. Their heights are 30 cm and 45 cm. The smaller statue has a mass of 12 kg. Work out the mass of the larger statue, in kg.
- 4.A circle has a diameter of 24 cm. A sector of this circle has an angle of 90°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.
- 5.A cylindrical water tank has a solid hemispherical dome on top, both with radius 2 m. Work out the volume of the hemispherical dome alone. Use π = 3.14 and give your answer correct to 3 decimal places.
- 6.A parallelogram has an area of 54 cm² and a base of 9 cm. Work out its perpendicular height.
- 7.A cylinder has a radius of 3 cm and a height of 10 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the volume of the cylinder.
- 8.A shop stacks identical storage crates in a display. The diagram shows the plan of the floor positions used, with one corner position marked. Every floor position is filled with crates stacked 3 high, except the marked corner position, which is left completely empty. Work out how many crates are used in total.
- 9.Two similar ponds have perimeters in the ratio 4 : 11. The perimeter of the larger pond is 88 m. Work out the perimeter of the smaller pond.
- 10.In triangle ABC, angle ABC = 58°, angle ACB = 47° and BC = 14 cm. Work out the area of triangle ABC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 11.A sector of a circle has radius 12 cm and angle 45°. Using π = 3.14, work out the area of the sector.
- 12.A drone starts at the point (3.5, −2) on a grid measured in metres. It flies by the vector to check a first sensor. The drone then needs to fly in a straight line to reach the point (−1.7, 9) to check a second sensor. Work out the column vector of this second flight.
- 13.A cylinder has a volume of 942 cm³ and a height of 12 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the radius of the cylinder.
- 14.An ice cream is made from a cone of radius 3 cm and height 10 cm, topped with a hemisphere of the same radius sitting exactly on top of the cone. Work out the total volume of the ice cream. Use π = 3.14. Give your answer to the nearest whole number. Volume of a cone = 1/3 × πr²h. Volume of a sphere = 4/3 × πr³.
- 15.The top of a clock tower is 25 m above level ground. Oliver stands on the ground 25 m from the foot of the tower. Work out the angle of elevation of the top of the tower from the point where Oliver stands.
