- 1.Sam says: '3.2 litres is the same as 320 ml, because you multiply by 100.' Which statement about Sam's claim is correct?
- 2.In triangle ABC, AB = 15 cm, angle BAC = 38° and the area of the triangle is 61 cm². Work out the length of BC. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 3.A sector of a circle has angle 120° and an arc length of 31.4 cm. Using π = 3.14, work out the radius of the circle.
- 4.A surveyor marks two fixed points A and B, with position vectors OA = a and OB = b (in km) from a base station O. A relay mast P is to be placed on the line AB such that AP : PB = 3 : 2. Express the vector OP in terms of a and b.
- 5.Two vertical masts stand on level ground, 40 m apart. One mast is 30 m tall and the other is 50 m tall. Work out the straight-line distance between the tops of the two masts. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 6.A plumber charges a £45 call-out fee, plus £28 for each hour worked. She works on a job for 3 hours 30 minutes, and her hours are billed by rounding up to the next whole hour. Work out the total amount she charges.
- 7.A solid rubber ball has a radius of 3 cm. Work out the volume of the ball. Use π = 3.14.
- 8.A sector of a circle has radius 10 cm and angle 150°. Using π = 3.14, work out the perimeter of the sector, to 1 decimal place.
- 9.In a right-angled triangle, the side opposite angle θ is 6 cm and the hypotenuse is 10 cm. Work out the size of angle θ. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 10.In triangle ABC, AB = 13 cm, AC = 9 cm and angle ABC = 35°. Given that angle ACB is obtuse, work out its size. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
- 11.Points P and Q have coordinates P(0, 0, 0) and Q(5, 7, 9) in a three-dimensional coordinate system, with all lengths in centimetres. Work out the distance PQ. Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.
- 12.In triangle ABC, angle ABC = 72° and angle ACB = 48°. Side AB = (2x + 1) cm and side AC = (3x − 2) cm. Work out the value of x. Give your answer to 1 decimal place.
